Airbus A320 NEO

The 320 NEO (New Engine Option) is the plane that almost everyone will fly at least once during the next decade. The prototype of the NEO is also the A320 which made the first flight of this program 25 years ago, February 22, 1987 (MSN001). This aircraft, which is 1/4 of a century old remained the developing aircraft of AIRBUS, and is now equipped with "Sharklets" more than 2 meters high at the ends of its wings. It is still equipped with CFM-56 although the new 320 NEO will have either the CFM Leap-X or the Pratt & Whitney PurePower. The new engines+sharklets combination would reduce the fuel comsumption by 15% and cut by 10% the emission of NOx. The A320 Classic will be able to get Sharklets through retrofit.
